No longer drown in mismatched socks!

I put a post on my facebook today about how I was doing laundry, and unfortunately drowning in mismatched socks. This is the bane of my existence. If I could go through life never having to match the endless heap of mismatched socks, my life would be so much easier. ALAS... my fellow moms rejoice! A wonderful mom, and friend commented on my facebook post, and had a great idea I would like to share with all the moms out there. Becca wrote "According to Real Simple, you should safety pin the socks together before washing." It is an added step that I am willing to do to save myself time when it comes to matching socks. I hope this tip helps.

  1. That's a great idea!

I recently went out and both my girls all the same socks (they wear the same size) and bought dh all the same socks too. I HATE matching socks!! I would have saved myself some $$ if I would have read this lol

  2. I have heard putting each child's socks in a lingerie laundry bag, and then washing and drying them right in it can solve the problem, also.

  3. Where do you suggest pinning them? The toe area? Because I tried this on a pair of my socks and in the dryer they must have twisted badly and pulled the elastic at the ankle opening. Maybe a smaller safety pin? I am not sure.

  5. Tiffany~ I pin them at the toe. I use standard size safety pins. My husband has bigger socks, and standard sizes won't work. For him I use the heavy duty size pins! :)
